Mathworks RoadRunner Overview
RoadRunner is an interactive editor that allows users to design 3D scenes for simulating and testing automated driving systems. With RoadRunner, you can easily customize your road scene by creating custom road signs and markings in certain areas. In it, you can insert various elements such as signs, signals, fences, road damage, leaves, buildings and other 3D models. RoadRunner is equipped with tools that allow setting and configuring the timing, phases and paths of traffic signals at intersections.
One of RoadRunner’s advantages is support for lidar point cloud displays, aerial imagery, and GIS data. Additionally, you can import and export road networks using OpenDRIVE format. 3D scenes created with RoadRunner can be exported in various formats such as FBX, glTF, OpenFlight, OpenSceneGraph, OBJ, and USD. This export format can be used in leading automated driving simulators and game engines such as CARLA, Vires VTD, NVIDIA DRIVE Sim, Baidu Apollo, Cognata, Unity, and Unreal Engine.
With RoadRunner’s content library, users can quickly populate 3D scenes with a diverse collection of realistic and visually consistent 3D models. RoadRunner Scene Builder also makes it easy to automatically create 3D road models based on HD maps.
